Are you a user of Instagram? If so then this will no doubt be of use.

In the last week, Instagram has announced the introduction of some technologies to help secure your online world. Or at least the bit of it that resides on Instagram anyway.

The first is a feature to help evaluate the authenticity of accounts with a large number of followers. Next is a system of verification for notable figures to prove their account really does belong to them. This is likely to be similar to the Verified Accounts system that is used by Twitter.

The feature I was keen to see is the third update which is around two-factor authentication (2fa). Instagram will now support third-party code generators such as Duo and my preferred one, Authy. These may now be used to help make login easier, safer and more secure.

In the coming weeks, I will be writing more about 2fa and why it should feature more in your online life.
